RESPIRATORY DISEASES
WHAT IS RESPIRATIO
NWhy IS IT necessary
What Is Respiration ?
In physiology, respiration (often confused with breathing) is defined as the transport of oxygen from the outside air to the cells within tissues, and the transport of carbon dioxide in the opposite direction.
Respiration
Respiration is the breakdown of food (glucose) to release energy.
Where does this take place?
Enzymes (catalyst) are special proteins that control the process of respiration.

Respiratory diseases
• Respiratory disease is a medical term that encompasses pathological conditions affecting the organs and tissues that make gas exchange possible in higher organisms, and trachea, bronchi, bronchiolesalveoli, pleura and pleural cavity, and the nerves etc
1) Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
2) ASthma
DISEASES WE DISCUSSwhat
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
• Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), which includes emphysema an example of an obstructive lung disease, is where the alveoli rupture causing air to be retained in the lungs and limit the available space during inhalation.
Asthma• Asthma attacks can be brought
on by triggers, such as air pollution, tobacco smoke, factory fumes, cleaning solvents, infections, pollens, foods, cold air, exercise, chemicals and medications
• Asthma is a difficulty in breathing causing wheezing due to inflammation of bronchi and bronchioles, this causes a restriction in the airflow into the alveoli.
