A Designing of Low Carbon Development Plan in Cambodia toward 2050
Yokohama, JAPAN
24th July 2013
Mr. HAK MAO
OUTLINE
I. Country’s Background
II. GHG Inventory
III. Low Carbon Development Cycle in Cambodia
IV. Proposed LCDP Policies and Strategies
I. COUNTRY’S BACKGROUND
More than 80% living in rural areas
It is more vulnerable to climate change impacts due to its low adaptive capacity
82% of the energy consumption is produced by burning woods, while electricity presents only 0.87% of the total consumption
53.6% have accessed to electricity in urban; while 8.6% in rural area
In 1994, Cambodia was a net sink and offset approximately 5,142 Gg. of CO2 eq.
In 2000, It becomes a net emitter, with 220 Gg. of CO2 eq. and expected to jump to 25,549 Gg CO2 eq. in 2050
