NEW DELHI, Sept 27:

The CBI today arrested asenior customs official who hadbeen evading arrest in an alleged

bribery case registered lastweek.

Deputy Commissioner,Customs, Sandeep Jot Singh,who is posted in Gujarat’sMundra town, allegedly took abribe of Rs 30 lakh.

“He will be produced beforethe special CBI court inAhmedabad tomorrow,” theagency spokesperson said here.

The company of the com-plainant, a customs house agent,

was hired by an Ahmedabadfirm. 27 kg of gold was found inone of the import consignments

of the firm in July.Singh allegedly demanded

Rs 40 lakh to clear the names ofthe relatives of the customshouse agent, including his wife,in a case related to the import of27 kg of gold, the CBI FIRsaid.(PTI)
