INTRODUCTION

Now-a-days we are in need to avoid wastage of power in home.

As more and more consumer electronics and home appliances are deployed and the size of them is becoming large, power consumption in home area tends to grow.

Through this project we are overcoming the threat by using various sensors to enhance security and to save power.

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

Micro Controller LDR sensor Temperature sensor PIR sensor Level Sensor Vibration Sensor Zigbee modules LCD RS232 cable Crystal Oscillator

BLOCK DIAGRAM

MICRO CONTROLLER

Temperature Sensor (LM35)

The LM35 sensor series are precision integrated-

circuit temperature sensors, whose output voltage

is linearly proportional to the Celsius (Centigrade)

temperature.

To detect the heat produced during fire occurrence

we use temperature sensor.

PIR Sensor

PIR stands for Passive Infra-Red.

PIR is an electronic device that measures infrared (IR) light radiating from objects in its field of view.

PIR sensors are often used in the construction of PIR-based motion detectors.

LDR Sensor

LDR stands for Light Dependent Resistance.

An LDR will have a resistance that varies according to the amount of visible light that falls on it.

The light falling on the brown zigzag lines on the sensor, causes the resistance of the device to fall. This is known as a negative co-efficient.

Vibration Sensor (MMA7260Q)

The MMA7260Q is a 3-axis accelerometer

Single axis accelerometers measure acceleration in only one direction.

Dual-axis accelerometers are the most common measure acceleration in two directions, perpendicular to each other.

Three-axis accelerometers measure acceleration in three directions

Level Sensor (LM124)

The LM124 series consists of four independent, high gains, internally frequency compensated operational amplifiers.

LM124 series can be directly operated off of the standard +5V power supply voltage which is used in digital systems

RS 232

RS-232 (serial ports), are now used almost exclusively for dial-up modems, like mice, that used to use serial ports.

BUZZER

A buzzer or beeper is an audio signaling device, which may be mechanical, electromechanical, or electronic.

LCD Display

A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a thin, flat electronic visual display that uses the light modulating properties of liquid crystals.

Liquid crystal display is very important device in embedded system. It offers high flexibility to user as he can display the required data on it.

Zigbee Communication

ZIGBEE is a wireless technology developed as an open global standard to address the unique needs of low-cost, low-power, wireless sensor networks.

ZIGBEE is used for wireless communication that is we can send the data through air.

The protocol allows devices to intercommunicate and be powered by batteries that last years instead of hours.

Software Requirement

PIC-C compiler

PIC kit 2 programmer

Express SCH

Proteus

Advantages

Provides Industrial security.

Efficient and low cost design.

Fire and gas detection using sensors.

Low power consumption.

Real time monitoring of all sensors.

Easy to operate.

This system consumes low power for its working.

Applications

This system can be used in trains.

This system can be used in waiting halls, shopping malls, hospitals, cinema theaters etc.

Best, Effective design based home security system.

Audible and visual alerts using buzzer and PC based monitoring.

Conclusion

Integrating features of all the hardware components used have been developed in it.

Presence of every module has been reasoned out and placed carefully, thus contributing to the best working of the unit.

Secondly, using highly advanced IC’s with the help of growing technology, the project has been successfully implemented.

Future scope

This project can be extended by using IR sensor, GPRS and 3G technologies.

IR module helps in alerting if any window or door is open.

Through GPRS, we can monitor the green house from anywhere in the world and 3G technologies can be used to view the plants through video calling option.

This helps in finding out the emergency times and fast responding to the situation.
