About  Red  Ribbon  Thailand  RED  Ribbon  Thailand  aims  to  raise  awareness  about  the  implica3ons  of  HIV  and  the  life  of  those  infected  by  volunteering  in  HIV/AIDS  NGOs  in  Bangkok  to  work  on  raising  awareness  campaigns  and  materials.  There  will  be  3  public  events  with  3  different  themes:  -­‐  Be  Aware:  Test  yourself    -­‐  Preven<on:  Educa3on  on  how  to  avoid  

contac3ng  HIV/AIDS,    -­‐  Tolerance:  how  people  live  with  HIV  live  and  

how  to  help  them  and  Op3onal  :  Living  with  HIV:  what  are  your  op3ons  and  how  to  reintegrate  in  society  a`er  infec3on  preven3ng  any  discrimina3on.  

Social  Problem  Defini3on  •  In  south-­‐east  Asia,  HIV  it  is  most  notably  the  biggest  cause  of  death  and  disability  in  Thailand  

•  The  HIV/Aids  infec<on  rate  is  rising  in  Thailand,  with  9,470  new  cases  a  year  being  reported,  80%  from  unsafe  sex.    About  62%  of  the  464,414  people  known  to  be  infected  with  the  virus  in  the  country  are  men,  according  to  the  Ministry  of  Health.      

•  A  recent  research  confirming  that  HIV  s3gma  and  discrimina3on  is  very  much  alive  in  Thailand  

Mission  •  To  educate  the  popula3on  about  HIV/AIDS  to  get  tested  and  help  prevent  new  HIV  infec3ons,  plus  to  decrease  the  level  of  discrimina3on  against  people  infected  with  HIV/AIDS    

Target  Audience  •  Sexually  ac3ve  people  (teenagers  &  adults)  

•  People  with  HIV  Posi3ve  

Social  Impact  Strategies  •  Collaborate  with  NGO/Public  ins3tu3ons  dedicated  to  improve  HIV  infec3ons  in  Thailand  

•  Educa3onal  seminars,  workshops  and  weekly  events  with  university  students  for  educa3ng  and  raising  awareness  regarding  HIV  facts  and  situa3on  in  Thailand  

•  Building  and  strengthening  a  Youth  for  Youth  current  for  suppor3ng  the  NGOs    regarding  HIV/AIDS    

•  Decrease  the  level  of  new  infec3ons  of  HIV/AIDS  •  3  na3onal  Events  (  Raise  awareness    -­‐  preven3on,  Raise  Tolerance  ,  Raise  responsibility  )
