• Reading is a combination of phonic awareness, fluency, and vocabulary.

• Phonic awareness –refers to the ability to focus and manipulate spoken words.

• Phonic instruction –teaches children relationship between letters of written language.

• Fluency is the ability to read text accurately.• Vocabulary- refers to the meaning of a word.
