Reaching Higher Story

•Reaching Higher is a not-for profit organization co-founded in 1997 by Susie Dahlmann, an acclaimed teacher for 23 years and a successful Dale Carnegie Instructor for 15 years.

•Reaching Higher is dedicated to providing children with tools for building self-esteem, fostering positive life choices, and improving relationships to foster a healthier learning environment in the schools.

•Reaching Higher was created as a result of parents and administrators searching for a strong leadership program that builds self-confidence, empowerment and strong moral values for youth.

“How Do We Accomplish Our Mission?”

We offer a nine week leadership program for middle and high school students. Our program is designed to produce the following outcome:

• Decrease in delinquency

• Decrease in school dropout

• Increase in school attendance

• Increase in academic achievement

• Increase in social competence with adults and peers

“What Is The Program?” Reaching Higher is an experiential curriculum

program. Students will experience the following sessions:

Session 1You are a Miracle Students explore their miraculous and unique nature and begin to create a positive community within the group.

Session 2Remembering Students put away negative messages they have “learned” about themselves and begin to remember the precious parts of themselves.

Session 3 Managing Stress Students learn techniques for impulse intervention and stress relief as well as ways to overcome worry.

Session 4Purpose In Life-Setting Goals Students look at their unique gifts and explore how those gifts can be expressed through setting and attaining goals.

Session 5Changing Limiting Beliefs Students look at negative beliefs about themselves and experience techniques to replace them with positive beliefs.

Session 6 Fear to Freedom Students explore the impact of fear in their lives and learn techniques for releasing fear.

“What Is The Program?”

Session 7Positive Life Choices Students have an opportunity to hear experiences that have involved poor life choices and ways to make good choices for themselves.

Session 8Happiness Through Giving and Loving Students will give to one another, through kind action and communication, and experience the happiness that result.

Session 9 Graduation Celebration On this special evening, parents, friends, and faculty come together to celebrate the children, and to hear how the students have benefited from the program.

Sustainable Student Support Program

• Sustainable Student Support is a once a month support group for Reaching Higher Graduates.

• The purpose of the program is to continue to support and strengthen the Graduates to keep living the Reaching HigherTruth Principles.

• This group will also provide accountability for reaching their goals and strengthen them to continue to make positive – healthy choices for their future.

Reaching Higher Train-the-Trainer Model

Train-the-Trainer Program•Designed to increase the number of classes you are able to offer while decreasing the cost of the program.•Reaching Higher provides the tools and coaching to identify ideal candidate•Candidates attend a 4 day Train-the-Trainer course•Reaching Higher continues to coach and support all Trainers•Each Instructor will qualify for certification based on set criteria.
