As a church, we have a great history of faith-filled steps that have moved us forward. From very small beginnings, an amazing

ministry emerged and continues to touch so many lives. Reflecting on the past, each of us should be thankful for the generations

before us who left us a great legacy to build on. But if all we have are memories, then we are missing so much. The good news is we

have more than memories. We have a vision!

We live in a city and a culture that is moving in the wrong direction and many people are being swept up in the swift currents. As

Christians we can be tempted to withdraw and move into a survival mode, all about our own personal comfort and safety. First

Christian is already doing great work in our community and our world, so we could just maintain our current ministries and giving,

and we would still be doing much. But do we really want to live in a way that is just surviving and ignoring others who need to find

the hope and help for a better way to live?

It is time to break through some plateaus, both personally and as a church. It is time to take new bold steps of faith. It is time for

us to move forward together toward a new vision to reach, win, and grow. That simple framework for our future vision comes from

Jesus Himself. Summarizing His great commission, Jesus tells us to go and make disciples, baptize those who believe, and teach

them to obey all I have commanded you. [Matthew 28:19-20] He is inviting you to be all about reaching others, winning lost souls,

and growing deeper as disciples.

I put this invitation before you right now. I invite you to join me with a new commitment declaring “I’m All In” for the new things

ahead Jesus calls us to. To resource this vision, we simply must grow in our generosity. We can’t wait on a better economy or for the

world around us to improve on its own. It’s time for us as the people of God to step up and step forward in faith, to be “all in” on

new initiatives that will move us forward.

As you thumb through the pages of this journal, you will find an explanation

of the vision that God has placed upon our hearts. It’s a big vision, and I be-

lieve it is only attainable if we are ALL IN. Every one of us must do our part.

I believe God is calling each of us to take a new step of faith in our spiritual

journey. If we can do this now and do this together, we will step forward into

the exciting future that God has for First Christian, our city, and our world.

Long ago, Jesus invited 12 ordinary people to “Come follow me”. When they

said yes, he led them forward to amazing new things, changing their lives and

using them to bless countless others. He is still inviting you to take a step of

faith today. Say yes. Let’s say it together – “I’m All In!”

ouR LEGACy1958

Mid-week prayer and planning meetings were held at the home of Bill & Lassie uhlemeyer. The first services were held in an old white farmhouse on the St. Louis Christian College campus. 28 persons were present and twelve

of them placed membership on that first day.

1959The church moved to 890 Lindsay Lane and changed its name to First Christian Church of Florissant.

1972Charles Wingfield was called to ministry and soon thereafter the church began to

outgrow the facilities on Lindsay Lane.

1983Construction began on Phase I of our building on Patterson Road.

1988Construction began on Phase II, a two-story educational wing. Five years later, Phase III brought expanded office space, a preschool wing and second floor classrooms.

2004Construction began on our new

frequently asked questionsBy committing to I’m All In, how does this change my giving to the General Fund, Missions Fund, Building Fund, or other special offerings? For those who have contributed previ-ously to multiple funds, this is a way to consider your total giving to God through First Christian. During this two-year period, every contribution to God through First Christian is a contribution to our I’m All In initiative. Every aspect of the ministry vision God is calling us toward will be funded through this initiative. Therefore, every weekend becomes a weekend to celebrate and contribute toward what God is doing through us.

What are you asking me to do? First and foremost, we are asking you to pray and seek God’s guidance on what He is asking of you. Prepare your heart to hear Him, and then listen to what He says. Engage in a small group, if you haven’t already joined one. Spend time with God using the devotional guide and journal in the back of this book. Talk with your spouse and your family about what this whole-life commitment will mean for this next exciting season of our lives.

day one Go to ALL the Nations (Matthew 28:18-20)

After Jesus rose from the dead, but be-fore He ascended back to heaven, He gave His disciples a directive. A com-mand. A commission. That commission has not changed in the thousands of years since that day, and it is that same commission that drives the future vision for First Christian. As followers of Jesus, we’re going to REACH (“go and make disciples of all nations”), WIN (“baptiz-ing them”), and GRoW (“teaching them to obey everything I have commanded”). What a large vision! We certainly have to be ALL IN to reach ALL the world. We’re not doing this on our own, though. Jesus is with us, leading the charge – and He’s been given ALL authority.

It’s ALL God’s (Psalm 24:1-10)

As we talk about being ALL IN, it’s important for every one of us to a look at our time, our energy, and our resources and how we can le-verage those things for God’s Kingdom. Isn’t it a relief, though, when we remember that the whole world belongs to God? Everything you own and everything you have – it’s ALL God’s! Knowing this and believing it frees us from worrying about our stuff, and how much we’re supposed to portion out to God. God is the one who gives to us and enables us to partner with Him in sharing Christ with the world. Take a moment to think through everything that God has shared with you, and let that be an encour-agement to use these blessings in a way that honors Him!

We Can Do ALL Things(Philippians 4:10-13)

As First Christian is looking for its members to be ALL IN, there are some who might get discouraged because they don’t feel like we have enough resources or spiritual depth to make a big splash. But Paul knew that it didn’t matter whether he was poor or wealthy for him to be ALL IN for Christ. He knew that his ability to impact the world in a big way didn’t depend upon the size of his wallet or his spiritual résumé, but the size of his faith. Be content that no matter the circumstances you are in right now, God is ready to work in you and through you to accomplish His purposes. We can do ALL things when we depend upon His strength!

It Takes ALL of Us(Hebrews 10:19-25)

Reaching some of the goals that Christ has for our church might seem daunting to us individually. How long would it take for you to raise $5.5 million dollars, or to lead 1000 people to accept Jesus? The beauty of the church, however, is that it isn’t up to just you or me. We are a part of a global church that Jesus said together would do greater things than He did while on earth! If each of us reached one person for Christ in the next three years, our goal of 1000 decisions would be met. That’s why it’s so important for us to encourage one another in this time to continue moving forward. These goals will only happen if ALL of us are ALL IN!

But who is known for their excellence in giving? The truth is, one does not have to be rich to be a generous giver. And this pursuit will help lead us to the life that is truly life – true life for us, and a better life for those that are blessed by our generosity.

Using This

journalJesus said, “If anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23). Not only does that imply personal sacrifice, it is an invitation to daily discipleship. His original call for committed disciples and His call to you today is to a personal, daily walk with Him that will change you at the deepest level.

The following steps present a suggested outline for how to use a 30-minute time period for daily devotions:

1. The best way to begin is to open your Bible and briefly pray for God to speak to you through His Word. Consider using a daily reading plan as a guide to help you find a place to begin reading and to systematically read through the Bible. Read one or two chapters of the Bible with an eye for two or three verses that the Holy Spirit impresses on you as instruction, correction, or encouragement.

2. At the top of one of the daily journaling pages, record the date, what chapters you just read, and a page number. Fill one journal page using the following outline:

God’s Word – Write out two or three verses word-for-word that particularly stand out from your reading. Writing them will help you meditate on the truth the Holy Spirit is impressing on you and will help you retain it.

Notes to Self – In a few sentences, note any details, thoughts, or instructions that seem to be key. This can be a simple life application from what you have just heard from God. What new attitude, action or change is God calling you to make?

Prayer – Write out a brief prayer. Thank God for His Word for you today. Ask for His strength to apply it to your life. As you complete this, you may also want to pray through prayer concerns you list on pages 128-129.

3. Finally, at the top of your journal page, give a title that summarizes your devotional time. Then turn to page 74 and enter information. This last step will help you see if you are growing and developing a healthy new pattern. A healthy goal is five journal entries per week.
