RE-BRANDINGPRESENTED

BY SCOTT ODIGIE

…insight to personal branding

A brand is a perception or emotion, maintained by somebody other than

you, that describes the total experience of having a relationship

with you.

A great personal brand consists of the perception of our core values by

others, our manners, our body language, our voice, our networking abilities, the ability to build rapport, warmth and charisma, and last but

not the least-our appearance.

It is about what makes you outstanding and distinct to stand out from the myriad of others who offer

seemingly similar services or products. It does not matter the

qualifications you have…

Reasons why you should care about your

personal brand?

1. Management of your perceived image by your clients,

colleagues and friends.

2. Progression in the corporate or business ladder.

3. Skyrocketed improvement in your communication with people.

4. To create a strategic memory in people's subconscious.

5. To move up the leadership ladder.

6. To become a success magnet.

7. To be perceived as having great integrity.

Therefore, how do I build my personal

brand? Take note of the following laws…

1. The law of specialization (focus): must be focus on a single

core strength, talent or achievement. You can specialize in one of many ways: ability, behavior, lifestyle, mission, product, profession or

service.

2. The law of leadership: you must be perceived as a leader in

your sphere of influence. Leadership stems from excellence, etc

3. The law of personality: a true personal brand should be built on

your personality-your unique temperament.

4. The law of distinctiveness: must be expressed in such a way

that it stands out of the competition.

5. The law of visibility (presence): it must be seen over

and over again until it imprints itself on the consciousness of its domain

or sphere of influence.

6. The law of unity: private conduct must mirror the public

brand.

7. The law of persistence: any personal brand takes time to grow. It

can't be replaced with advertising and public relations.

8. The law of reputation: a personal brand will produce better

results and endure longer if the person behind it is perceived in a

positive way.

9. The law of passion: it must have a great deal of emotion or

feelings behind it.

10. The law of purpose: you know what you want out of life; an

anticipated outcome that guides your planned action.

…Let's move in to what re-branding means…

Rebranding is a marketing strategy in which a new name, term, symbol,

design, or combination thereof is created for an established brand with

the intention of developing a new, differentiated identity in the minds of consumers, investors, competitors,

and other stakeholders.

Rebranding could also be defined as the process of giving a company, organization, product, a person or a

place a facelift.

…what are these rebranding strategies?

1. Questioning strategy: why rebranding? Some reasons are:

understanding of your current brand perception and competencies. Gives

you USP.

3. Brand purpose strategy: This is strategy communicates with your

market not about "what you do" but "why you do what you do." It takes you beyond the public’s perception

that “we’re in it for the profits,” even if your stockholders are

4. Brand promise strategy: this serves as the core of yourself or the

values you stand for in your transactions and relationships with

people. What you hold in high esteem and would never compromise for anything.
