The  Client,  The  Problem,  The  Specifics:  Lady  Gaga  is  looking  to  move  to  a  city  more  aligned  with  her  poli8cal  views.  Since  she’s  an  advocate  of  the  LGBT  movement  and  a

supporter  of  the  arts,  she  wants  to  move  to  San

Francisco.  The  problem  is,  she  doesn’t  know  where

she’d  want  to  live  in  this  city.    She  has  some  specific  requests:  to  live  near

inspira8onal  places  as  well  as  places  where  she  can

perform.  Maintaining  health  is  important  to  her  so  she  asked  to  be  near  places  to  exercise.  Due  to  her  high  profile,  she  needs  to  live

somewhere  more  secluded,  but  in  areas  with  other

young  people.  She  wants  to  stay  away  from  industrial

areas  and  freeways.  She  may  have  children  in  the  future  so  she’d  like  to  be  near

private  schools.

Methods  Descrip9on:  In  order  to  find  the  best  possible  loca8ons  for  Lady  Gaga  to  move,  we  performed  a  suitability  analysis  using  vector  analysis  and  network  analysis.  We  first  used  the  vector  analysis

to  iden8fy  the  best  possible  loca8ons  to  live  in  the  city  based  on  loca8on  of  parks,  bike  routes,  private  schools,  and  neighborhood  popula8ons.  We  gave  each  constraint  and  opportunity  a  different  weight

depending  on  its  importance  to  Lady  Gaga.  ALer  combining  the  constraints  and  opportuni8es  maps,  we  were  able  to  iden8fy  best-‐suited  areas  for  Lady  Gaga.  We  compared  the  map  to  those  corresponding  areas  in  the  city  and  immediately  ruled  out  places  not  ideally  suited  for  Lady  Gaga  like  the  stadium.  We  then

looked  for  listed  homes  in  the  most  suitable  areas  (suitability  score  of  6+).  We  chose  7  homes  in  these  areas  to  do  a  network  analysis  around,  seeing  which  homes  were  closest  to  loca8ons  where  she  could  perform,  art  museums  and  good  Italian  food.  For  the  network  analysis,  we  did  an  individual  service-‐areas-‐analysis  for  clubs,  museums,  and  Italian  restaurants  with  1  minute  intervals  up  to  10  minutes.  We  unioned  the  service

area  layers  to  create  one  suitability  analysis  of  the  service  areas.  Based  on  this  analysis,  we’re  able  to  see  the  most  suitable  home  based  on  their  proximity  to  Lady  Gaga's  desirable  loca8ons.  There  was  only  one  home

that  fell  in  the  most  suitable  area.

Conclusion:  Based  on  suitability  analyses  using  vector  and  service  area

analysis,  the  most  suitable  home  for  Lady  Gaga  in  San  Francisco  is  196  Avila  St  San  Francisco,  CA  94123.  Out  of  the  seven  homes  we  found  for  sale  in  the  city,  this  was  the    only  home  located  in  our

highest  suitability  area.
