WHAT IS Quantity Surveyor• Provide advices on procurement, contracts and project cost management.

• Work as consultants or be employed by a contractor or sub-contractor.

• Prepare Bills of Quantity from plans, describing materials, items of work and quantity required

Quantity Surveyor Certified Board

The Board consists of a President, a Registrar, a Secretary and sixteen (16) members appointed by the Minister of Works, Malaysia.

Act as stakeholder in a contract for consulting quantity surveyor services

to determine and regulate the professional conduct and ethics of the quantity surveying profession

• Cost Planning• To help the design team to keep within the

budget from start to the end of the project• Help client keep track of the money flow in the project

• Estimating & Cost Advice

• Estimates and cost advice during all stages of the development of a project• knowledge of building and construction economics enable quantity surveyors to provide reliable cost advice.

Contractual Methods• Advise client on the best form of contract for a

specific project.• eg : contracts incorporating bills of quantities,

provisional bills of quantities and schedules of rates.

Tendering•Process of proposal or bidding before a project•Calculating the cost and risk for the project.
