A Client’s Journey on QIADPCharged and arrested for an alcohol related offence by QPS

Receives legal advice from ATSIL, Legal Aid or own solicitor

First mention in QIADP Court. Magistrate decides if defendant should be considered for QIADP –stands the matter down for initial screening

QIADP Assessor does initial screen (if not already complete) & if suitable arranges for full assessment to be completed later.

Defendant is usually put on bail so that an assessment can be done. In some cases they are incarcerated

Following completion of the assessment an individual treatment plan is designed with the Defendant

In some cases, ISR conducted by QH prior to court appearance

A Client’s Journey on QIADP

Once the treatment plan is endorsed by the Magistrate, the defendant is bailed into the program and formally becomes a QIADP participant

The QIADP program runs for approximately 20 weeks with regular call overs for Progress Reports

Following the completion of the bailed treatment program the participant can choose to continue with Aftercare which assists them to better integrate back into mainstream society and support systems.

QIADP Sites

From little things big things grow• QH funded NGO residential rehabs in each site

and QAIHC to provide the Cert III in AOD services.

• QH now has QIADP teams in each site to provide quality, culturally appropriate alcohol treatment

• Many services & agencies are now working together when there was no relationship before – e.g. health, police, justice, child safety, communities, NGOs, training & education, employment…
