ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT
PROJECT TITLE: Please No Plastic – PROJECT PNP
PROJECT PROPONENT: PEDRO E. DIAZ HIGH SCHOOL
PROJECT:
Pedro E. Diaz High School together with I AM SAM Foundation, local government
unit, private and public organizations had launched a project last June 6, 2019,
entitled– PROJECT PNP (Please No Plastic). Pedronians started to live a more Ecological
Life by stopping #SingleUsePlastic. We intended to Save the Sea, the Earth out of plastic
trash, using a tumbler, metal spoon, forks, and straws on our daily life.
SUMMARY OF PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES:
As soon as the proposals have been approved, the initial project was executed
immediately with accurate planning methods, resources, and funds. The first quarter of
the implementation was done through cluster by cluster approach as we complete the
initial target of students.
During 8 months of the project's implementation, we had conducted Clean up drives
onto the Jamboree Lake, inside the school vicinity during last ‘Brigada Eskwela’ with the
coordination of PEDHS Supreme Student Government, General Parents-Teachers
Association headed by Ms. Myla Nunez, President, local government unit and I AM SAM
Foundation. Creating a sitting bench all over the campus that is made up of plastic
bottles and a basic segregation policy throughout the school. Awareness and campaign
for the students in terms of PNP’s poster dissemination, room to room orientation. Most
importantly we had collaborations for different public and private sectors such as the
Environmental Sanitation Center Muntinlupa headed by Ms. Lorna Misa, coordinated to
Mr.Vincent Alon and the Lake Management Office Ms. Rosalina Contreras, Dept. Head,
coordinated to Ms. Beverly Ponce. We had the chance to reiterate the project with Hon.
Mayor Jaime R. Fresnedi, Councilors Atty Raul Coro, and Alexson Diaz, and they advised
me that they will support. It was indeed a memorable day for us as we share a common
objective and that is to END PLASTIC POLLUTION in lieu of the City River Rehabilitation
Program.

During the Brigada Eskwela, some of the known personalities visited our school to check
up on our preparedness regarding the start of the new school year. Mr.Noli de Castro,
renowned TV and radio broadcaster interviewed us regarding this matter and we had
the opportunity to introduce the Project on nationwide television. We are also blessed
when ABS-CBN’s TV show entitled ‘Umagang Kay Ganda’ (variety show), chose our
school to be one of the recipients of their “Munting Handog sa Balik Eskwela Program”,
we had the chance to interview Ms. Gretchen Ho, famous TV broadcaster, and also got
the opportunity to introduce one of the school’s best practices.
For the students to understand the true objectives of the project which are:
IAM SAM-PEDHS conducted a Plastic Waste Orientation Seminar, having the executive
officers of each school’s organization as our first participants. We invited Mr.Lester
Villamartin, an environmentalist from STI, who had collaborated with us for the
opportunity of implementing the project on different schools in Muntinlupa.
After such time of conducting measures of success:
MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
We’ll know we’re successful when the following are manifest:
Referral or new programs are introduced and executed.
People are focused beyond merely getting something working toward getting it
working to a degree previously designated which constitutes success. (It’s not just
running, it’s running the way it should be running
There is group approval, and a lack of cynicism; the programs show multiple sign-
offs from diverse team members.
Meetings and discussions reveal that others were included—and valued—in the
decision-making process and that such inclusion was mandatory for success.
We continued to push through the project as we gather donations from LGU’s who gave
tumblers and free gallons of water to the school, Batch Maharlika, also donated new
water sinks near the canteen so that students were encouraged to bring their own
everything and have it washed on their own afterward.
We also published articles on our “ANG PEDHS NGAYON” school paper to encourage
not only the students but also teachers, as of today, faculties were bringing their own
tumblers and eco-bags as they encourage students to adapt changes regarding the
project.

The collaboration between SHARP Philippines headed by Mr. Alexander Mercado, Sr.
Manager, Manufacturing and Mr.Eugene S. Villa, Manager-HR, Gen. Affairs & OPGM, was
an essential part of the project because each adapted some of the best practices of
each organization.
The effort exerted in the project exemplifies significant part with the results that were
observed and also according to surveys and interviews that we conducted by the IAM
SAM and Supreme Student Government during their room to room assessment last
November.2019, out of 5,000 students,45 percent or 2,250 students were regularly
bringing their own tumblers, excluding the students who have received the donated
1,000 tumblers from barangay Alabang headed by SK Chairman, Ms.Ahya Dancel and
Barangay Chairman, Capt. Tin-tin Abas. Along with the donations, the school’s free and
freshwater continuously serves everyone in the school.
Mrs.Mary Joyce Raymundo, English Teacher, one of the teachers who truly supports the
program continues to urge the students who belong in lower sections to bring their own
glasses or tumblers and breaking the culture of using plastic as their water container.
At present, everyone especially teachers shows their utmost support in the Project’s
implementation, little by little school canteen is taking their step towards zero plastic
community by prohibiting the use of plastik labo. Grade 7 students were thought on how
to make Eco bricks for the sustainability of the project, as Ms.Natasha Jean Faulkner, a
member of “SAY NO TO PLASTIC MOVEMENT”, taught us on how to continuously improve
the said project. We already, made bookshelves, parking divisions, bench with the
collected Eco bricks.
300 Grade 8 students were thought on how to turn these eco-bricks into a reusable
material in coordination with YES-O Club Adviser, Ms.Edwina Arong who also exemplifies
her support by joining us in collaboration with the SHARP Philippines and Miss Malaysia’s
advocacy, headed by Ms.Adriana of Miss Malaysia Organization and MaNoy Handicraft
(Malaysian and Pinoy) who uses plastic and soda tabs in making jewellery, gowns, and
crafts.

*Graphical presentation shown that the implementation of PROJECT PNP has less almost
60-90% of yearly average collected garbage waste in the school for the past 2019 up to
present based on the data of The Division PH.
Selected Grade 9 students and teachers were observed on bringing their own tumblers,
in coordination with Peer Counselling Club, who conducts room to room assessments.
Grade 10 students, who are a member or executive officers of different school’s
organization are the ones who first take its step in disseminating information, awareness,
and campaigns, they are also the ones who are expected to join seminars and training
to produce a project of quality that will help in times of the process and implementation.
On November 25, 2019, Ameera Cabusao, IAM SAM PEDHS President, and Mary Grace
Magbanua, SSG President, had the opportunity to sit as two of the city councilors,
specifically, Little Majority Floor Leader and No.1 Councilor Atty. Raul Corro and Little
Councilor Alexson Diaz, and to discuss PROJECT PNP’s best practice in school that could
also be implemented in other schools. On November 15, 2019, we had the opportunity
to present Project Please No Plastic as one of the official Programs of ANTIG(Alyansa ng
Tropang may Integridad at Ganap) of Campus Integrity Crusaders with the IAM SAM
PEDHS to the office of the ombudsman.
The connection between Barangay Alabang and PEDHS continues as we plan for clean-
up drives and as they support the PROJECT PNP, especially Barangay Alabang’s SK
Chairwoman, Ahya Dancel, who visited the school to check up on the school’s

performance, academically and in terms of projects that were created during 1st to 2nd
quarter of S.Y. 2019-2020.
As the officers of the IAM SAM-PEDHS S.Y. 2019-2020, along with the continuous
implementation of the project, we are also beginning to train students who exemplify
potential in terms of handling the project thus we sent a student to Indonesia to represent
PROJECT PNP.
As we reach for greater heights, we continue to push through what Pedro E. Diaz High
School has started, with the most patriotic thing that we all can do and that is to take
care of the environment and always try to live sustainably.
