the WBS subdivides the project
tasks into smaller work elements

the WBS aims to outline the project
activities in detail
the WBS takes the form of an organogram,
where objectives are translated to
action programmes, which translates to
performance measures, etc…

Practical Exercise…
Use your workplace project as practical exercise to plan
and schedule your actions.
Also use the objectives designed during the project brief
as base-line for the development of your WBS.
The first part of this exercise will be to relate your primary
objectives to tasks, and then to relate your tasks to
performance measures and resources needed.
Tasks do not have to be progressive in nature and the
numbers must follow through irrelevant of which objective
you are busy with.

Linking Tasks to Objectives…
Task:
That which must be done to realise a project objective.
Predecessors:
The tasks that precede the current task.
Performance measures:
How will we know that the task is done?
Resources Needed:
What resources do we need to successfully complete the
task?

Rules of a Logic (dependency) Diagram…
Time flows from ‘start’ to ‘finish’.
Each key stage must be described
separately.
Show the dependency links with
arrows, e.g. ‘C’ can only take place
once ‘B’ and ‘A’ has been done.
