Professor Ilias Visvikis (BA,MSc,MSc, PhD) joined the AmericanUniversity ofSharjah(AUS)attheUnitedArabEmirates inSeptember2017asaProfessorofFinanceandDirectoroftheOfficeofExecutiveandProfessionalEducation.HeisVisiting Professor (since Jan 2016) and previously Senior Visiting Fellow (2012-2015)atICMACentre–HenleyBusinessSchooloftheUniversityofReading(UK).He is an Associate Editor (since Sept 2016) and previously member of theEditorial Advisory Board (2012-2016) of the leading journal TransportationResearchPartE:LogisticsandTransportationReview(ABDCRank:A*).HeisalsoelectedCouncilMemberoftheInternationalAssociationofMaritimeEconomists(IAME),whichismembersince2002,andChairmanof itsAnnualConferenceinAthens (Greece) in 2007. There he was responsible for a portfolio of distance-learningPostgraduate Diploma programmes and for the coordination of numerous Professional Development CoursesdeliveredinAsia,Europe,Africa,SouthAmericaandtheMiddleEast.HewasalsothefounderandCoordinatorofthePostgraduateDiplomainExecutiveMaritimeManagementprogramme(2014-2017)co-deliveredwithDNVGLMaritimeAcademy.BeforethatheservedasfacultymemberatALBAGraduateBusinessSchoolattheAmericanCollegeofGreece,havingthepositionsofAssociateProfessor(2011-2012)andAssistantProfessor(2005-2011)ofFinance,and theAcademicDirectorof its shippingprogrammes.There,hewas the founderandDirectorof theAMBA-accreditedMBAinShippingprogramme(2005-2012)andoftheMScinInternationalShippingandFinanceprogramme(2010-2012)co-deliveredwiththeUniversityofReading(UK).HealsopreviouslyhasheldpostsintheCentralSecuritiesDepositoryofGreeceandintheDerivativesMarketoftheAthensExchangeinGreece.He has teaching experience both at graduate (MSc and MBA) and undergraduate (BSc) levels, from severaluniversities around the world, including Belgium, China, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Sweden, The Netherlands,United Arab Emirates, andUnited Kingdom, in subject areas such as: FinancialManagement, Investments, RiskManagement, Derivatives, Financial Econometrics and Forecasting, EconomicModelling, QuantitativeMethods,Shipping Finance, and Shipping Derivatives.
