Selecting and Constructing photography for the music magazine
I looked at a series of websites to find appropriate professional photography that I could use in my magazine. This is because: I need to have lots of options for what to
use in the magazine. I need to have plenty of variety that helps
to represent my music scene accurately.
I like this one because of the effect they have used. The objects around the person are blurred, to make her stand out more. They have used black and white, to make it look more professional.
It could be used for a double page spread, about the person in the image.
It would influence the design of the page by using this image on one side of the page, and having the writing on the other. Creating the double page spread.
I like this one because it’s been shot well. Pixie Lott is smiling, and you can see all her features. The lighting is done to compliment her. It’s quite a fresh, clean photograph.
It could be used for a double page spread about Pixie herself, or indeed a front cover.
It would influence the design of the page by giving it the theme of the writing, the theme being Pixie Lott. It would also set the colour scheme of the page, using colours that complimented the photograph.
I like this one because of the colours, it’s kind of a mad photo. It’s got a funky look to it.
It could be used for a contents page.
It would influence the design of the page by setting the theme around this image. It’s quite a busy image, so the writing would have to be plain, and bold. In order for it to stand out, against this photograph.
I like this one because it’s bizarre and unusual.
It could be used for a front page.
It would influence the design of the page by creating the colour scheme of the page. The colours for this photograph are based around black and white. Bright colours, like a red or a blue, would have to be used in order for the writing to stand out, against this strong image.
I like this one because it’s striking. I like the lighting, and the fact it’s in black and white. Makes it look more professional.
It could be used for a double page spread about the person in the photograph.
It would influence the design of the page by setting the colour scheme to black and white.
I like this one because of the way it’s laid out.
It could be used for either a contents page, or half of a page for a double page spread.
It would influence the design of the page by how it was laid out on the spread. Another image would be used, or images under and over this image. Or the writing could do this instead.
I like this one because it’s dramatic and striking.
It could be used for a contents page, or a spread about this person.
It would influence the design of the page by setting the theme of the page. Creating that dramatic look.
I like this one because you’ve got a close up, and a further away photo. I like the basic colour schemes of the images.
It could be used for a double page spread.
It would influence the design of the page by creating the colour scheme, and theme of the page. Also setting the theme of the page, which would be this person.
Here are some more photos and graphics that might help me to establish the overall look of my magazine…
