2. File>Open>”pulley” If you do not have it, download at the course website.

3. Change its unit to mm. If you don’t know, note the last week’s handout.

4. We’ll learn how to put cross sections in the engineering drawing.

Pro/E WILDFIRE, week7

2

File>New>Drawing> Name is “pulley” You can leave the default template box checked.

3

Choose “Empty with format” and browse to select a.frm format.

4The format should be under “System Formats. Open. OK.

5

Insert General View at RMB pop-up menu. Click to the left of center of the sheet. View Type is “Front” and View display style is “Hidden” and Tangent edge style is “None”. OK.

6

Select the front view and select “Insert Projection View” at RMB pop-up menu. Locate the side view at the right of the sheet.

7

Select the right projection view. In RMB pop-up menu, select “Property”. In the Drawing View window, select “Section” and select “2D cross section” and + sign. Done.

8

Enter name of the cross section, “A”. Check. Specify the cutting plane for the section. Choose the vertical plane (Right datum plane in my case) in the middle of the pulley. Apply.

9

In the Drawing View window, click in the blank space under “Arrow Display” We want the section arrow to appear on the front view. Thus, click the view. Apply. Close.

10

Section view generally does not show any hidden edges. Thus, its view display style is “No hidden” and tangent edge style is “None”. OK. We’ll add a detail view on pulley groove. Click “Detailed…”

11

Read the message window. Pick a point near the groove in the section view.

12

Click several points with the LMB to enclose the area to be drawn. Click MMB to finish. Select a center point for locating the detailed section view.

13

Open the detailed section’s property. Change the view name as “B”. Scale is 1.

14

We’ll add dimension. Click “Annotation”.Select “Extrude 1”(extruded disk) in the model tree and select “Show Model Annotation” in RMB pop-up menu. Now you see the dimension on the feature.

15

Now you see the dimension on the feature. Show all and OK.

16

Select the detail view and click “Show Model Annotation”.

17

Select the detail view and click “Show Model Annotation”. Show only the dimension shown above. Also add more dimensions using “dimension”.

18

Add Φ to the dimensions using “Text Symbol”.

19If you need, do “cleanup”. To move some dimensions in a particular view, use “move item to view”.

20

To add certain lines or circles on the drawing, click “Sketch” and click “Circle”. Add refs before your drawing by clicking this. To draw a circle shown above, I pick three arcs to define the center and the size of the circle.

21

You can change its style after selecting the circle and select “Line Style” at RMB menu. Change the line font to “ctrlfont”.

22

Change the line font to “ctrlfont”.

23

Add a note. Insert>Note.

24

Let’s add a keyway to the pulley as shown above. The keyway is 5mm wide and 3mm deep. It is symmetry about the top datum plane. We’ll draw some parts and learn how to assemble them later.

25

Draw “bplate”. Its dimension is shown above. The main view is top view. Don’t forget to save the part in mm unit.

26

Draw “bushing”. Its dimension is shown above. Don’t forget to save the part in mm unit.

27

Draw “washer”. Its dimension is shown above. Don’t forget to save the part in mm unit.

28

This is how to draw a hexagon.

29

Draw “bolt”. Its dimension is shown above. Don’t forget to save the part in mm unit.

30

Draw “axle”. Its dimension is shown above. Don’t forget to save the part in mm unit.

31

Assignment week 7-1, Draw a drawing for pulley and print its engineering drawing as shown in the figure. Please follow the dimensioning rules.

32

Assignment week 7-2: Draw the axle and print its engineering drawing as shown in the figure.
