Identifying Elements of Art and Principles of Design in a Work of Art
Choose ONE of the three images below and complete the following…
• Identify ALL the Elements of Art (line, shape, texture, color, form, value, space) and Principles of Design (Unity, Movement, Emphasis, Contrast, Rhythm, Balance, Pattern, Proportion, Harmony, Variety) in the piece of artwork.
• Provide TWO sentences for each element of art and principle of design, describing how it is being used. (Example: -‐ “The element of art, line, can be observed in this picture through the repetition of thick lines in the man’s tie and the outline that surrounds all shapes. Thin diagonal lines can also be found beside the man’s tie).
• You may complete this assignment on a separate sheet of paper • I have included the names of the artwork and the artist in case you choose to
look the images up online for better view.
