The gospel message from last week (John 14:1-12) has kind of stuck with me. Technology has been a wonderful option during this time we have not been able to gather together, which is now on its ninth Sunday. We have been able to livestream Masses on Sundays and during the week, along with First Friday Holy Hour and parish updates. However, as I look at the numbers of those who are viewing Masses, I’ve seen a steady decline as time as gone by and this concerns me.
I’m not so concerned about all of you who are faithful Mass “watchers” and long so much to be together again, especially to receive the Eucharist. The people who do concern me are the ones we may call “lukewarm” in their faith. When this pandemic began, it seems a lot of us – even those who weren’t very engaged in their faith, turned to God for help and the Mass was one of those methods to get closer to God. As time progresses and the numbers who are viewing drops, it may (and I say “may” – I have no proof) be that those who were lukewarm in their faith have possibly given up asking God for help or have gotten comfortable with a lifestyle that does not include any sort of Sunday worship. It is these people to whom we need to focus our prayer. We need to pray that when the time is right for us to reopen that everyone from this community – especially the people who have been lukewarm in their faith – wants to be here to thank God for all the blessings they have in their lives.
So please, let us pray for all those who are lukewarm in their faith, that God will touch their hearts and souls, that they may be a part of this community or wherever it is they worship.
“A lukewarm heart becomes self-absorbed in lazy living and it stifles the fire of love. The lukewarm
person lives to satisfy his or her own convenience, which is never enough, and in that way is never
satisfied; gradually such a Christian ends up being
content with a mediocre life. The lukewarm person allocates to God and others a 'percentage' of their time and their own heart, never spending too much,
but rather always trying to economize.” Pope Francis, October 2016

All You Need is Love
By: Amy Ertman
It is the 6th Sunday of Easter—we are still celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus! Alleluia!! In today’s Gospel reading from John, Jesus is talking of the interaction between Him and his disciples. He says: Love me, and Keep my commandments
What were His commandments again?
“Love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”
“Love your neighbor as yourself.”
“The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:37-40) So, it’s pretty much about one thing: LOVE. GOD IS LOVE.
John ends today’s Gospel with a great summary: Love Jesus. Be loved by God. Be loved by Jesus. Learn more Jesus and His ways.
All this reflecting on love reminded me of a Beatles song “All You Need Is Love,” and made me curious about the song lyrics. Could the song be saying all you need is God? Read the last verse, and you decide:
There's nothing you can know that isn't known (revealed by God)
Nothing you can see that isn't shown (to you by God)
There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be
It's easy All you need is God, God. God is all you need.
THANK YOU to everyone for your incredible
generosity in helping us hit our Bishop’s Appeal goal! The people of Prince of Peace
have hearts that are always looking to give, and you show it in so many ways. THANK YOU for
being shining examples of Christ’s love for others!
