* Motor sport is a truly mixed sport; open to all, competing and working within the same rules and regulations in perfect equity

* Since the early 1900’s many women have competed in the sport including several in F1, the World Rally Championship and Indycar, and these women have started to write the history of women in motor sport…

* Behind the scenes there are many highly qualified women engineers, officials, team principals, directors, mechanics, team managers, public relations officers….

“The Women in Motorsport Commission aims to create a sports culture which facilitates and values the full participation of women in all aspects of the sport.” “There are already a number of highly successful women working in our sport, but we also need to invest in the future and encourage the younger generation to view it as a world of equal opportunities. Motor sport is not just about driving; it is an arena that provides openings in a whole sphere of different areas. Knowing these opportunities exist is all part of an impor-tant communication plan for the Commission and our national sporting authorities.”

MICHÈLE MOUTON PRESIDENT OF THE WMC

19

“The FIA’s membership around the world comprises men and women; each has an identical part to play in sport. Like many international federations, we will support, promote and help advance the participation of women in motor sport to ensure equal opportunities at all levels.”

JEAN TODT PRESIDENT OF THE FIA
