BIOGRAPHY

Jimmy Choo was born in Penang, MalaysiaBorn in a family of shoemakerMade his first shoe when he was 11 years old Study in cordwainers technical in 1983Worked part- time at restaurants and as a cleaner at a shoe factory

CAREER & SUCCESSOpened a workshop in Hackney in 1986 His craftsmanship and design were soon noticed and he came to the verge of international notability when his creations were featured in a record eight pages in 1988 issue of vogue magazineIn 1996, he co-founded Jimmy Choo ltd. with British vogue accessories editor Tamara Mellon

AWARDSIn the year 2000 he was bestowed a state award carrying the title of ‘DATO’ by the sultan of Pahang state in Malaysia for his achievementsIn the year 2002 he was conferred an OBE by the queen Elizabeth II in recognition of his service to the shoe and fashion industry in U.KHe has also been awarded a fellowship by the university of the arts London conferring the use of the title professor
