Reproductive Functions of the uterus.

• Menses• Implantation• Gestation• Labor• Delivery• The uterus is responsive to the hormonal

changes within the body, which allows adaptation to the different stages of a woman reproductive life.

Some common Uterus Disorders.

• Uterine Fibroid: It is a benign tumor or growth that contains fiberlike tissue. It is the most common tumor in women.

• Uterine prolapse: Fallen uterus that can cause the cervix to protrude through the vaginal opening. Generally caused by weakened muscles from vaginal delivery or as a result of pelvic tumors pressing down.

Edometrium.

• Endometrium is the inner lining of the uterus. It contains a rich blood supply and reacts to hormonal changes every month, which results in menstruation. During pregnancy, the lining of the uterus does not shed but remain to nourih the unborn child.

• The Endometrium is made up of two layers.• The Functional Layer also known as the functionalis is the

superficial layer that is shed each month during menstruation.

• The Basal layer (basalis): This is a permanent layer that gives rise to regeneration of the endometrium after each month.

• Endometrial Function:1. Location where blastocyt is normally implanted2. Location where placenta developes.Endometrial Disorders:3. Abnormal Uterine bleeding.4. Endometrial cancer.5. Endometritis.6. Endometriosis.
