Traditional Food Empanadas: Stuffed pastry of semicircular
shape. The traditional filling includes beef, onion, cut boiled egg, an olive and raisins, but some empanadas can me made of cheese or fish as well.
Chilean corn and meat pie: Commonly served in individual clay bowls. The main ingredients are: Corn, onions, chicken, minced meat, some leaves of fresh basil and sugar.
Golden liquor : Made of Brandy with milk.

Condorito It started in 1949 as a
comic strip in ‘Okey’ Magazine
Created by the Chilean cartoonist René Ríos after the release of the movie “Saludos Amigos” of Disney
Today, Condorito is published in several countries in Latin-America and there is even an English translation.

Neftalí Reyes Basoalto (1904 – 1973) Writer, diplomat and political figure.
Awarded a Nobel Prize for Literature in 1971. He also received the of Honoris Causa degree from Oxford University
He is considered as one of the greatest poets in the 20th Century.
Gabriela Mistral Pen name of Lucila de María
del Perpetuo Socorro Godoy Alcayaga, (1889 - 1957) teacher and writer.
She was the first Latin-American woman to win a Nobel Prize for Literature in 1945. She also received an Honoris Causa degree from Mills College of Oakland, California.
Today, her face is stamped in the $5000 pesos note.
Violeta Parra Teacher, painter,
sculptress, composer and researcher of Chilean music.
She was born in 1917 and died in 1967 surrounded by friends and family.
Roberto Matta Roberto Sebastián
Antonio Matta Echaurren is known simply as “Matta” (1911 – 2002) architect and Chile’s most famous surrealist painter.
Received the Premio Nacional de Arte in 1990 and the Premio Principe de Asturias de las Artes in 1992
