Established: May, 1978 The Mission: To connect people, animals, and the natural
world to save wildlife. Cutting-edge exhibits
provide exciting experiences with animals and
their habitats introducing guests to species
from around the globe. Education programs
engage audiences at the Zoo, throughout the
region, and around the world. Conservation
programs protect endangered species and
preserve critical eco systems.
Vision: The Minnesota Zoo is a leader in saving

About the New Exhibit: *Colorful North American butterflies and
moths
*A working colony of leaf cutter ants
*Giant millipedes
*Centipedes
*Land Crabs
*The world’s largest spider
*Tarantulas

*Zebra cockroach
*Butterfly garden with up to 600 free-flying
butterflies and moths feeding, resting, and
emerging as adult butterflies
About the Grand Opening Event: Location: On the Northern Trail just past the new
Conservation Carousel
Date and Time: May 1, 2016, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Special Guest: Dr. Giebink aka “Bruce The Bug Guy” will
be performing an educational program with
LIVE insects, spiders, and millipedes from
12 p.m. to 2 p.m. This hands-on and
interactive nature program—kept lively with
humor, fun props, and occasional
“surprises”—make it enjoyable for people of
all ages.
