T h e n e w s l e t t e r f o r P P C A A r t i s t s Autumn 15

Welcome to the latest edition of ‘On The Record’, PPCA’s newsletter for artists and licensors.

2015 has started off in a fine fashion with a host of great music by both local and international artists having already been released. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has to offer, particularly from our home-grown talent.

I was extremely proud to represent PPCA at the presentation of the 10th annual Australian Music Prize in March. This year saw another great crop of artists nominated for the prestigious honour. Once again, PPCA provided the $30,000 prize money to the winner, which this year was Melbourne artist Remi for his album ‘Raw X Infinty’.

PPCA partnered for the second successive year with the Australia Council to offer local artists and labels five $15,000 Recording Artist Grants, and we recently announced the latest round of recipients for these grants. The range and quality of applicants under the program has been extraordinary and on behalf of PPCA I would like to congratulate all of the artists who were successful in securing grant funding.

One of the 2014 grant recipients, Melbourne singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett, recently released her grant-facilitated debut album, ‘Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit’, which was greeted with great reviews and fans all around the world.

I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome Megan Washington to the PPCA Board. Megan joins Lindy Morrison as the Artist Representatives on the Board and is a highly respected member of the Australian music community. I look forward to working with Megan during her tenure.

PPCA distributed nearly $33M to our registered artists and labels at the end of 2014. It was another great result, which helps to ensure our artists and the labels that support them can continue to do what they do best – make amazing and inspiring music.

Cheers,

Dan Rosen PPCA CEO
