Unpack & Installation of the

MJ-1106 Saddle Stitch Finisher

How To Series CX3535/4545 MFP

The KN-4530 Bridge Kit is required when any finisher is installed on this product. Note: The unpacking instructions for this kit are provided with the finishers.

KN-4530 Bridge Kit Unpacking

1. Open the packing carton. Take out the accessories.

2. Take out the bridge kit.

3. Remove the packing material and peel off the tape.

4. Remove the packing material and peel off the tape from the paper exit section.

5. Turn the bridge unit upside down and remove the tape on the sensor.

Verify all accessories.

1. Remove the screw and remove the scanner damper cover.

2. Cut out the 3 blind sections from the cover before the bridge unit is installed.

3. Place the bridge unit in the inner tray section, then connect the connector.

4. Place the bridge unit so that its positioning pin fits into the frame, then hook the bracket.

5. Secure the bracket with the screw.

6. Open the transport cover of the bridge unit.

7. Secure the front cover of the bridge unit with the screw.

8. Close the transport cover.

9. Install the blind cover with 1 screw.

The 2 unused screws and the core will be used when the finisher is installed.

Unpack & Installation of the

MJ-1106 Saddle Stitch Finisher

This document outlines the installation of the finisher only.

If you are installing the MJ-6103 Hole Punch Unit at the same time, follow the unpack and setup procedures for the Hole Punch Unit.

This section describes the unpacking and set-up of the MJ-1106 Saddle Stitch Finisher after the KN-4530 Bridge Kit is installed.

1. Cut the four straps.

2. Lift up the packing carton & remove it..

3. Remove the packing material.

4. Take out the packing instructions.

5. Take out the accessory carton.

6. Remove the packing material.

3. Fold the packing material at 2 points.

2. Separate the card board from the removed packing material.

4. Spread the separated card board.

5. Insert the spread card board into the folded points all the way in.

* Be sure that the card board is inserted in the correct direction.

6. Stand the finisher together with its packing material carefully by placing one hand under the packing material and holding the external cover ***NOT THE TRAY! near the finisher tray with the other hand.

* Note: This step must be performed by 2 people.

7. Tilt the finisher slightly and remove the packing material.

8. Tilt the finisher slightly and remove the packing material.

9. Remove the packing material from under the finisher.

11. Peel off the adhesive tape.

12. Remove the 2 pieces of packing material from under the tray.

13. Open the front cover of the finisher.

14. Cut and remove the binding band fixing the stapler .

15. Cut and remove the binding band fixing the jam access guide

16. Remove the 2 screws. Remove the front bracket on the saddle stitch paper feed side.

17. Remove the 2 screws of the front bracket on the saddle stitch paper exit side.

18. Pull out the saddle stitch unit.

19. Peel off the adhesive tape and remove the packing material from the saddle stitch unit.

20. Remove the screw on the top of the saddle stitch unit holder. Remove the bracket .

21. Cut out the binding band for the releasing lever on the front side of the additional folding unit.

22. Open the additional folding unit while holding the right and left knobs.

23. Cut out the binding band for the releasing lever on the rear side of the additional folding unit

24. Close the additional folding unit.

25. Peel off the adhesive tape.

26. Peel off the adhesive tape from the jam access guide of the saddle stitch unit.

27. Open the jam access guide and remove the 2 pieces of packing material.

28. Close the jam access guide.

29. Remove the 2 temporary fixing screws for the casters on the front paper feed side of the finisher.

30. These screws will be used when you separate the finisher from the machine .

31. Close the saddle stitch unit.

32. Close the front door.

33. Remove the screw. Take off the saddle access cover on the rear side of the finisher.

34. Remove the 2 screws temporarily tightened on the casters.

35. Secure the saddle access cover with the screw.

36. Peel off the 7 blind seals on the paper exit side of the printer.

37. Secure the bridge unit bracket to the left top cover and the bridge unit with the 4 screws. To secure the lower side of the bracket to the bridge unit, use the screws that where packed with the bridge kit.

* These screws come packed in the KN-4530 Bridge Kit.

38. Temporarily tighten the shoulder screw into the lower screw hole on the rear side of the left cover (paper exit side).

39. Secure the finisher connecting bracket (rear) so that it fits into the groove of the screw.

40. Temporarily tighten the shoulder screw into the upper screw hole tilting the finisher connecting bracket toward the rear.

Note that the shoulder screws are of different sizes. Be sure to install the correct

screw in the correct location.

41. Stand the finisher connecting bracket straight and tighten the 2 shoulder screws.

42. Temporarily tighten the shoulder screw into the lower screw hole on the front side of the left cover (paper exit side)..

43. Secure the finisher connecting bracket (front) so that it fits into the groove of the screw.

44. Temporarily tighten the shoulder screw into the upper screw hole tilting the finisher connecting bracket toward the front.

45. Stand the finisher connecting bracket straight and tighten the 2 shoulder screws

46. Remove the 2 screws and take off the rear cover-1.

47. Loosen the screw and remove the cover plate.

48. Release the harness from the harness clamp.

49. Wrap the harness around the core.

* The core comes packed in the KN-4530 Bridge Kit.

50. Insert the locking support on to the LGC board.

51. Connect the harness to the converter board.

52. Install the converter board by aligning it to the connector and locking support.

53. Re-install the cover plate and re-install cover-1.

54. Before the movable tray is installed on the finisher make sure that its frame is in a position lower than that of the grounding plate. If not, correct it by following the procedure on the next page.

Correction of movable tray frame position 55A. Open the jam access cover.

55B. Insert a Phillips-head screwdriver into the hole B while holding the movable tray by hand. Keep the screwdriver inserted all the way in. Move the tray frame to a position lower than the grounding plate while holding the tray. Remove the screwdriver.

55C. Close the jam access cover.

55D. Set the 4 hooks of the tray on the tray bracket.

55E. Secure the tray with the 2 screws.

56. Connect the saddle stitch tray sensor with the link.

57. Install the saddle stitch tray with 2 screws.

58. Install the slide tray.

59. Check that the leveling arm lever is moved back and forth smoothly. If not, push the lever in then check again.

60. Install the leveling arm with the 2 screws.

61. Open the front cover .

62. Pull out the locking lever of the finisher.

63. Move the finisher closer to the printer until the guide pin on the finisher connecting bracket of the printer and the positioning hole of the finisher are aligned.

64. Align the finisher and the printer.

65. Push in the lock lever.

66. Install the locking bracket with 1 screw.

67. Close the front cover.

MJ-1106 Finisher Height / Gap Adjustment

Make sure that the gap between the finisher and printer is in the range of 0 – 10 mm. If the gap exceeds 10mm adjust it using the following procedure.

1. Remove the front and rear foot covers (1 screw each).

2. Loosen the 2 screws on the paper exit front side of the finisher.

3. Turn the gap adjustment screw on the paper exit front side until the gap becomes 10mm or less.

4. Tighten the 2 screws on the paper exit front side of the finisher.

• Reference

Turning clockwise = Gap becomes narrower Turning counterclockwise = Gap becomes wider

Note the position of the scale mark.

5. Loosen the 2 screws on the paper exit rear side of the finisher.

6. Turn the gap adjustment screw on the paper exit rear side until the scale mark matches the front side.

7. Tighten the 2 screws on the paper exit rear side of the finisher

8. Install the front and rear foot covers (1 screw each).

MJ-1101 Finisher Fall Prevention Adjustment

Make sure that the gap between the finisher and floor is in the range of 0 – 10 mm. If the fall prevention device contacts the floor or the clearance exceeds 10mm adjust it using the following procedure.

MJ-1101 Finisher Fall Prevention Adjustment 1. Open the front cover and pull out the saddle stitch unit.

2. Make sure that the fall prevention device is separated from the floor by keeping a clearance of between 3 – 10mm.

If the fall prevention device contacts the floor or the clearance exceeds

10mm, perform the height adjustment of the device.

MJ-1101 Finisher Fall Prevention Adjustment 3. Remove the 4 screws and take off the front cover of the saddle stitch unit.

4. Loosen the 3 screws of the fall prevention device.

6. Tighten the 3 screws of the fall prevention device.

7. Install the front cover of the saddle stitch unit with 4 screws.

8. Close the saddle stitch and finisher front door.

1. Cut out the 2 blind sections from the rear cover-2.

2. Connect the interface cable from the finisher and install the connector cover.

3. Insert the harness band from the lower hole through the upper hole of the connector cover and secure.

Confirm that all functions perform correctly.
