What is a smart phone?What is a smart phone?• A smart phone is a phone with more advanced computing

abilities and includes the following features:

- QWERTY keyboard: The keyboard is laid out in the same form as that of a computer keyboard.

- Web access: It can access the web at higher speeds.

- Operating system: This allows the phone to run productivity applications.

- Software: The smart phone software will have the ability to do more.

- Messaging: A smart phone supports multiple e-mail accounts. It also grants access to a number of instant messaging

applications.

• They are multifunctional.

• They make it easy to stay in touch.

• Quick to communicate with.

• Easy internet access anywhere.

• Businesses become slow as employees are too stuck on to their phones.

• It makes production faster in the sense that producers can contact each other much faster and conveniently than before.

• Employers can transfer e-mails and other information between employees in a short time span.

• Teenagers struggle to socialise facially with each other because they become used to chat rooms where they do not see each others actions.

• People become ignorant about communicating with people they do not know.

• Smart phones make communication much easier when one has to get hold of a friend/ family member.

• Students are too busy on their phones to concentrate in class.• Students invest too much time on social networking than they

do in their studies.• It disrupts a students’ study time-table.• It affects students’ English grammar where they start using

“chat language” while writing essays and any other school work.

• Smart phones can help educators to do their job.• It could also be useful in the sense that schooling institutions

could initiate a chat rooms where students can go online for help with their school work.
