Italy 2018 Latin Trip

Taking off!Our group of 11 students met Ms.

Seelbaugh and I at the airport at

10am Wednesday June 20th to

fly to Miami, FL and then Milan,

Italy!

z

MilanAfter landing at the airport, we

got to walk around the center of

Milan and eat our first Italian

meal (and gelato!).

z

VeniceWe took a water taxi to a glass-

blowing workshop on Murano to

begin our day and then spent the

rest of it on a tour of the Doge's

palace, exploring Venice, and

taking a gondola ride!

z

VeronaOn the way from Venice to

Florence, we stopped in Verona

for lunch. We also got to see the

balcony "from" Romeo and Juliet!

z

FlorenceThe morning began touring the

city of Florence with a local guide

and then getting to marvel in the

beauty of all of these gorgeous

buildings before a traditional

pizza dinner.

z

PisaStudents held up the tower of

Pisa, heard the Echo chamber in

the Baptistry, and saw the ornate

basilica!

z

RomeOur busiest day yet! We began

at the Vatican Museum and St.

Peter's basilica before heading to

see the Colosseum, the Roman

Forum, Trajan's column and the

Pantheon!

z

AssisiDuring the journey from Rome to

Sorrento, we stopped in the city

of Assisi to see the basilica and

tomb of St. Francis and to enjoy

the stunning views!

z

PompeiiWe got to see the magnificent

ruins of Pompeii including

CAECILIUS' HOUSE!

z

SorrentoWe stayed right outside of

Sorrento along the coast of the

Bay of Naples for the penultimate

night of our trip and got to play on

the beach.

z

CapriOur final day in Italy was spent

on the island of Capri. We had a

boat tour around the whole

island, took the funicular to the

top to have lunch, and got to

enjoy the gorgeous water.

Our Explorica tour guide,

Marina Spironetti, did an

incredible job getting us all

around the country easily

while keeping a beautiful

smile on her face!

Back to PittsburghAfter 9 amazing days in Italy, we

flew back to the USA from Rome

through Philadelphia before

heading back to the Pittsburgh

airport!

z
