SymposiumonToughandToughenedPolymers
Plastics, rubber and compositesthat are strong and tough are essential for acceleratedimplementation of autonomous, pollution-free electrical vehicles. These materials will alsoimpactallindustriesthatusepolymericmaterialstoachievesocietalneedsforsafety, securityand lowenvironmental impactwhile raising quality of life. This symposium intends to drawresearchers across the boundaries of material science, chemistry, physics, mechanics, andrheology to disseminate knowledge on recent breakthroughs in fundamental understandingand preparation of tough and toughened polymers for structural applications. We solicitresearchers from related scientific disciplines to present theoretical, experimental, andcomputationalstudiesinthefollowingtopics:
• Newchemistrytopreparetoughandtoughenablepolymers• Physicsoffractureandtoughening• Advancesinfracturemechanics• Noveltougheningconcepts• Advancedcharacterizationtechniques
