Can ETS provide assessments

for ELF/EOP/EAP programs ?

18

Standardized Tests Can Be Developed

IF

Content and context can be standardized

A large demand from score users exists

A large number of test takers is expected

19

International Workplace number

Potential Score Users 1 million ~ 5 million

Potential Test Takers10 million ~ 100

million

Content and Context Quite Standardized

TOEIC: Test of English for international communication

20

In the Near Future

In the short term, ETS is unable to address the issues of assessment for ESP or ELF (non-native varieties of English)

Global English provides a middle ground for ELF communication, and ETS continues to provide TOEIC and TOEFL ITP as the assessment solution for this market need
