Lloyd Morgan. Past International President LloydMorgan of Tauranga, New Zealand,has died. He was elected third vicepresident at the 1976 InternationalConvention in Honolulu, Hawaii, andserved as president during 1979-80.Past President Morgan was a chartermember of the Lower Hutt Lions Club,served in numerous capacities at the club and districtlevels, including Council Chairman of Multiple District202, and was an international director in 1970-72.Among the many honors he received for his contribu-tions to the association was the Ambassador ofGoodwill Award. He was also a Melvin Jones Fellow.

At the completion of his term as international presi-dent, he was decorated by Her Majesty QueenElizabeth II with the Most Excellent Order of the BritishEmpire. As patron of the Lloyd Morgan LionsCharitable Trust, set up in his honor in 1980, he helpedraise millions of dollars for humanitarian causes in NewZealand and the South Pacific.

Past President Morgan became part owner of ahotel in Lower Hutt in the early 1950s and eventuallybuilt a multi-hotel business. He was active on theCommittee of Management for the Hotel Association ofNew Zealand and was a member of the WellingtonHotel Association. Past President Morgan is survivedby his wife, Ngaire, two children, Larry and Deborah,and two grandchildren.

The Lions RoseParade Float is oneof the best and mostcost-effective PublicRelations tools thereis. This opportunityto have Lions ClubsInternational pre-sented on nationaltelevision is one ofthe best and mostinexpensive publicrelations endeavors ever used by lions. More than abillion viewers witnessed the parade last year.

The event was truly a multiple district-wide effort,with Lions Clubs International dignitaries participating.Many Lions and leos from all over California andNevada volunteered to help with the decoration of theRose Parade float and, in fact, assisted with many otherfloats in the parade.

The 2002 Rose Parade theme is "Good Times," andthe Lions float will feature a giant St. Bernard ready fora rescue in a winter ski scene.

The television announcers will include a backgroundof Lions Clubs International and a brief rundown ofLions' service activities.
