• Because of numerous different illustrations, no one knows exactly how Shakespeare actually looked.

Birthday• Nobody knows William

Shakespeare’s true birthday. The closest anyone can guess is with the date of his baptism on April the 26th, 1564. By tradition, being baptized three days after your birth date, William is assumed to have been born three days earlier on April the 23rd.

Shakespearean Background• William Shakespeare was

born in Stratford, England in 1564 into a middle class family.

• He was know as an actor and writer.

• He began writing at the age of 28.

• He died in 1616 and had a monument built for him. (tomb)

Family• William Married Anne

Hathaway when he was 18 and she was 26.

• They married in Temple Grafton, a village near Stratford, where William grew up.

• William and Anne had 3 children.

William Shakespeare• Few people realize that

besides writing 37 plays and 154 sonnets in his life time, William was also an actor who performed in many of his own plays and other playwrights.
