Entering the Garden

Visitors leave the city and enter the Garden via Park Place Boulevard. Crossing over the Sims oxbow, the experience begins as a tree-lined Botanic Boulevard gives a taste of the incredible collections, beautiful displays, and serene nature areas that lie ahead. 2

Houston’s climate allows the Garden to grow and highlight plants from across the globe in a nearly 4-acre Global Collection Garden. Rare and exotic plants will fascinate visitors as they explore the incredible biodiversity of our world and inspire greater environmental stewardship.

Living Alcoves

14Shade structures covered in vines will provide shade and guide guests to their next destination. 4

An edible garden celebrates the culinary scene of Houston and connects with Houston’s culturally diverse population through foods and herbs reminiscent of their family history.

Children’s Discovery Garden

A Children’s Discovery Garden will host outstanding educational programs and opportunities for exploring wetland and forest ecosystem gardens. Natural play elements will encourage children to enjoy the natural world as they climb, hide, build, dig, plant, pour, splash, and more.

The Glade and Events Lawn

Beautiful spaces will host educational programming—from cooking and yoga classes to master gardening training—and a variety of events—from intimate weddings with a lush, green backdrop, to concerts and large festivals along the bayou. 7

Seasonal Display Garden

Seasonal Display Gardens will feature seasonal color that demonstrates to visitors plants they can add to their gardens and beautiful garden designs. 8

Natural Ecosystem Gardens

The Bayou’s edge will serve as a frame for the more formal display gardens—distinguishing wilderness from paradise. The natural ecosystem gardens will showcase the incredible biodiversity of the numerous ecoregions in the Houston area, including coastal prairies, wetlands, and woodlands. 9
