- 1. Petanque Petanque comes originally from France but is now a
popular social sport in New Zealand
2. What is Petanque?
- The game is about throwing small metal balls at a target on the
ground.Points are scored by positioning the balls as closely to the
target as possible. You can play in teams or individual. It is
usually played on a flat surface.
3. How to play petanque
- RULES
- You have to throw a metal ball at a target ball.
4. The throw must be under arm you can roll it 5. You can knock
other people's balls away with your own balls
- EQUIPMENT
- Fairly large and heavy metal balls.
6. A small target ball. 7. String / Measuring tape. 8. How we
are going to play petanque in class
- We will be in pairs and in groups of eight. We will use the
petanque balls that the school has and some little balls as the
targets. We can use some kind of mark to start from. We can do it
on the field.
9. Benefits of petanque
- Petanque can be played on any age group and men or women can
play as well.
10. Petanque can be played indoors or outdoors and all year
round. 11. It can be played on just about any surface. 12. Petanque
does not require extreme levels of fitness 13. It develops hand-eye
co-ordination , thinking about tactics and strategies and teamwork.
