People in Places

Presentation ofA Portfolio

Mascha Lange

Project Synopsis• ThoughtsMost people only travel to cities to do serious sight-seeing. Only few tourists take the time to watch a cities’ people. The following photos for a fictitious article in a travel magazine try to focus on people in famous places around London, their position, their possible feelings, their daily life… in order to show you, the tourist, the stranger, another perspective of the city. However, the people shown still remain anonymous, leaving it to the spectator to invent or imagine their stories. For this is what a city is like, it is anonymous, it is impersonal.

Ethical Considerations• Taking photos of strangers; I was curious if I’d

be asked to stop photographing by some police or watchmen, but surprisingly I wasn’t

• Many thoughts about composition in advance, no need to change much afterwards
