Nouns • A noun is a person, place, thing or idea.
• Nouns are the subject of the sentence. Examples:
1. Matt is a pro-golfer.
2. The bakery has fresh baked cookies.
3. Children were playing outside.
Types of Nouns
Proper
A noun that names a specific person, place or thing.
She walked across the Purple People Bridge.
Common
A noun that does not name a specific person place or thing
Christopher cut the grass.
Pronouns
oPronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun.
Examples
1. I sing loudly in the shower.
2. Everybody in the class is wearing a Halloween shirt.
3. My mom made sugar cookies.
Adjectiveo An adjective is
a word that describes a noun or a pronoun
Example
1. Sarah has curly hair.
VerboVerb is the action of the sentence. It
shows what someone or something is doing

AdverboAdverb describes how the action is performed.
Examples:
1. The fished jumped quickly from the water.
2. The man sat alone.
