Phisical description

Parsley, or Garden Parsley for precision is a speciesof Petroselium in the family Apiaceae, native to thecentral Mediterranean region (Iron, southern Italy,Algeria, Tunisia), naturalised elsewhere in Europe,and widely cultivated as a herb, a spice andVegetable.

It as a biennial, in the first year, it forms a rosette oftripinnate leaves 10-25 cm long with numerous 1-3 cmleaflets, and a tap root used as a food store over the winter.In the second year it grows a flowering stem to 75 cm tallwith sparser leaves and flat-topped 3-10 cm diameterumbels with numerous 2 mm diameter yellow to yellowishgreen flowers. The seeds are ovoid, 2-3 mm long, withprominent style remnants at the apex. The plant normallydies after seed maturation.

Part used: leaves, roots, seeds and oil.Properties: parsley is a bitter, aromatic, and diuretic

herb that relaxes spasms, reduces inflammation and clears toxins. It also said to inhibit tumorcell growth and stimulates the digestion and uterus.

Parsley contains three times as much vitamin C as oranges, twice as much iron as spinach, is rich in vitamin A and contains folate, potassium and calcium. What’s more, parsley is also recognized for its cancer- fighting potential. Some of the potent chemicals in parsley includ:

Polyacetylenes, which seem to protect against certai cancer- causing substances found in tobacco smoke. It may also help to regulate the body’ s production of prostaglandin, which is a powerful tumor promoter.

Flavonoids, some of which act as anti-oxidants that neutralize dangerous from radicals, others that have been shown to prevent or slow the development of some cancers.

This bitter aromatic herb is used to relaxes spasmsm, reduce inflammation and helps to clear toxins from the body.

It is said to inhibit tumor-cell growth while stimulating the digestion and the uterus.

Parsley is also used internally for menstrual complaints and edema.

It is also used for ailments of the lower urinary tract and to prevent renal (kidney) gravel (stones).

Effects on human body

Internal use:Furthermore, it can be used in flatulent dyspepsia,

dysuria, rheumatic conditions, cystitis, prostate problems, indigestion, colic, anorexia, anemia and arthritis (roots and seeds). It is also used after childbirth for promoting lactation and contracting the uterus (roots and seeds).

Parsley tea may be used as an enema.Chinese and German herbologists recommended

parsley tea to help control high blood pressure. It is often used as an emmenagogue.

It is also appears to increase diuresis by inhibiting the Na+/K+ATPase pump in the kidney, there by enhancing sodium and water excretion while increasing potassium reabsorption. It is also valued as an aquaretic.

When crushed and rubbed on the skin, parsley is said to reduce itching of mosquito bites.

External use: The leaves have some itch relieving properties if

applied externallyAromatherapy and essential oil use: This oil made from parsley seeds is helpful for

water retention, stimulating the kidneys as well as helping with menopausal problems.

It helps to cleans the blood and boosts circulation and eases muscle spasms.

On the skin, it helps clear bruises, is a tonic to the scalp and is said to help with head lice

Parsley should not be consumed in exces by pregnant woman. It is safe in normal food quantities, but large amounts can have uterotonic effects.

Parsley contains amounts of oxalic acid, capable of causing kidney stones, though the exact quantities are disputed.

Her seeds contain a high level of apiole oil are a diuretic.Occasional allergic reactions on the skin and mucus

membranes may appear from the systematic use of terapeutic quantities of parsley.

Parsley are traditional benefits in: congestion, culinary, depression and rheumatoid arthritis.

Parsley in my life it’ s verry important, because this herb and space extended my mother life by three months, when doctors gave her only a few day’ s, but the natural treatment which included parsley juice has kept alive a few months.
