Josh R. recounts the dramatic story of Yoseph revealing his identity to his brothers and preparing Egypt for seven years of famine.

Transcript of Parsha Presentations: Vayigash

In this parsha, Yoseph snuck a cup into Binyamin's bag.

Then Yoseph accused Binyamin of theft and threatened to throw him in jail.

Yehudah offered to put himself in jail instead, because if Yaakov found out that Benyamin was in jail, he would die of sorrow.

After Yoseph could not take it anymore, he told his brothers who he really was.

After that, he told his brothers that he forgave them for selling him into slavery years before.

Plus: Yoseph stated that it was part of G-d’s brilliant plan to prepare for their survival from the famine.

Yoseph sent his brothers back to Israel with gifts and presents to fetch Yaakov and the rest of the Jews.

Yaakov came to Egypt and reunited after 22 years with his son. He and the nation of the Jews settled in the province of Goshen.

Hashem came to Yaakov in a dream. He told him that the nation of Israel will be enslaved for 400 hundred years in Mitzrayim, but eventually will return to Israel.

Hashem also stated that they will leave Mitzrayim as a great nation.

The last part of the parsha described how Yoseph used his knowledge to make Egypt a wealthier place. There was actually a commentary that said that Yoseph saved enough food for the famine in only two years.
