Discovery Channel features WM Security Services on Velocity
Halton Hills, ont. When Legendary Motorcar Com-pany wanted to upgrade its security system, it turned to Waste Management. The company’s 100-car show-room in Halton Hills, Ont., is the set of the Discovery Velocity show Legendary Motorcar.
The popular show is now in its second season in the U.S. and aired for 11 sea-sons in Canada as Dream
Car Garage, hosted by Peter Klutt, president and owner of Legendary Motorcar.
Klutt’s 55,000 square-foot facility opened in 1985 to restore and trade rare and performance cars. The business houses shops for service, restoration, metal shaping, hot rods, detailing, storage area and a confer-ence center.
Klutt wanted to be able to see his facility remotely when he traveled and show it to potential car buyers through the existing intru-sion and camera system. The 10-plus-year-old system needed to be updated, and that’s when Klutt turned to
Waste Management’s David Lee, manager of Security Operations Center, and Alex Aguilar, manager of Security Operations Center technology.
This February, the pair visited Legendary Motorcar to upgrade and reposition several cameras and in-stall additional cameras to provide better video cover-age of the showrooms and facility.
The intrusion system was also converted for the WM Security Operations Center in Houston to begin moni-toring this month. Klutt was provided remote monitor-ing software for his iPad
and trained on how to pull up camera views of cars in his showroom to potential customers.
Now, WM Security Services is providing the security services and solutions, which was demonstrated during the May 20 episode, with four additional shows to follow.
Legendary Motorcar will air on Discovery’s new channel Velocity on Tuesday nights. n
