SPAIN'S LANSCAPES
SPAIN'S RELIEV
Spain is the second largest country in the southwest of Europe and one of the European countries with the longest coastline.
Spain also has two island groups: the Balearic and the Canary islands.
SPAIN'S SHARES...
It shares a border in the west with Portugal and in the north with France (The Pyrenees).
SPAIN'S RELIEF
The terrain of the spanish mainland is very varied. It has plains, high mountains and basins.
Spain's land relief can be divided into three major groups:
ISLANDS AND BASINS
Two large basins formed by Ebro and Guadalquivir.
Island terrain: The Balearic Island in the Mediterranean Sea and the Canary Island in the Atlantic Ocean.
INLAND AND OUTER TERRAINS
Inland Ternain-The Meseta and the mountain that surround the Meseta.
Outer Terrain-Mountain ranges:
Macizo Galaico, the Montes Vascos, the Pyrenees, the Cordilleras Béticas and the Cordilleras Costero-Catalanas.
SPAIN'S RIVERS
Compared with other rivers in Europe, Spain's rivers are shorts and irregular with low water volumes.
Reservoirs heve been constructed along many of them.
CLIMATE
Most of Spain has a mild climate, except for the Canary Islands, wich have a warm climate because of their latitude. However, Spain has five climates varities that are associated with specific vegetation types.
VEGETATION
The land relief, vegetation and climate of a place all define its landscapes.
Natural lanscapes are those that are unaffected by human activity.
There are few natural lanscapes in Spain today, because it is a densely populated country and has been extensively modified by human activity.
