The rite of worshipping heaven in China was carried out from the 26th Century BC through the beginning of the 20th Century, when the feudal system disintegrated.

The Temple of Heaven was built in 1420, the 18th year of the reign of Emperor Yongle of the Ming dynasty. It was constructed in accordance with the Chinese traditional rite system for the purpose of worshipping heaven.

The 22 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshipped heaven in the temple of Heaven from 1421, the 19th year of the reign of Emperor Yongle.

This exhibition enables visitors to the Temple of Heaven to have a better understanding of the history and culture of the rite of worshipping heaven in ancient China.

“ What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the

Lord assigned to each. I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So

neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the

growth. He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. For we are God's

fellow workers.”(1 Corinthians 3.5-9, ESV)
