Ethernet ports Features
Switching card supports the following options:• 10/100 Base T• 10100 Base Fx• 1000 Base SX• 1000 Base LX
Supports auto negotiation Supports Flow control Supports Jumbo frames (up to 9216 bytes) Supports MDI-X 10/100 Base Ethernet ports can be configured in Full or Half
duplex mode. 1000 Base Ethernet ports in Full Duplex mode

Switching module : Salient Features
Line rate switching Supports 4K VLAN per port VLAN Stacking (Q-in-Q) is supported on all the GbE ports Per port rate limiting at 64 kbps granularity is supported on all the
client ports Switch has a built-in packet classification and filtering engine that
gives it the following capabilities• Layer 2-Layer 4 packet classification and filtering• Policing of flows based on programmable token bucket meters• Actions (e.g. dropping, setting lower priorities) on packets that are not in
conformance of programmed traffic profiles• Remarking of priorities (e.g.IP v6 DSCP, 802.1p) based on filter match
Traffic shaping using 1-8 CoS queues with strict priority, weighted round-robin, weighted fair queuing in scheduling

MAC and VLAN Switching
Ethernet switching is based on Destination MAC address + VLAN- ID Shared L2 address table
• Supports up to 16K entries• Entries can be configured aging or static
Shared Multicast Table with 256 entries Allows disabling of MAC learning on a per port basis VLAN Ids can be configured
• Port based• Protocol based
Supports• VLAN tagging and classification (IEEE 802.1 Q)• VLAN stacking (Q in Q)• Spanning Tree Protocol (IEEE 802.1 D)• Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (IEEE 802.1 w)• MSTP (IEEE 802.1 s)• Link aggregation (802.3ad)

QoS Features
Rate of each port can be configured with granularity of 64 Kbps
• For FE: 64 Kbps to 10/100 Mbps
• For GbE: 64 Kbps to 1000 Mbps
Non conforming traffic can be dropped/back-pressured using PAUSE/RESUME thresholds.
Flow Classification based on• VLAN ID• IP ToS• IP DSCP• CoS• Source/Destination MAC
address• EtherType• Source/Destination IP Address• Source/Destination L4 address• Protocol field• Range of VLAN

Policing
Police simple• Rate limit the flow to meet committed information rate (CIR)• Burst size restricted to committed burst size (CBS).
Police Single-rate• Rate limit the flow to meet committed information rate (CIR)• Coloring based on committed burst size (CBS) and excess
burst size (EBS) Police Two-rate
• Rate limit the flow to meet committed information rate (CIR) and Excess information rate (EIR).
• Coloring based on committed burst size (CBS) and excess burst size (CBS).

Egress CoS queues
Supports 1- 8 CoS queues Supports following scheduling scheme
• Strict priority (SP)• Weighted round robin (WRR)• Weighted Fair queuing (WFQ)• Combination of (WFQ or WRR) and strict priority.
Traffic shaping to restrict bandwidth usage per CoS queue to minimum (BMIN) or maximum (BMAX) configurable bandwidth.
HOL is avoided by dropping traffic after a configurable threshold is exceeded
Supports WRED to avoid congestion

Security Related Features
Access Control Lists: allows the traffic to be permitted or denied based on:
• VLAN ID• IP ToS• IP DSCP• CoS• Source/Destination MAC
address• EtherType• Source/Destination IP
Address• Source/Destination L4
address• Protocol field
Broadcast Storm control• Can be enabled/disabled on a per-port
basis Port mirroring
• Allows mapping of all incoming and outgoing packets on any specified port to a “probe” port
Performance Monitoring• The traffic statistics parameters can be
provided every 15 mins and on daily basis
• Parameters are monitored per flow and per port basis
• Allows loop-back on a per port basis• Supports connectivity fault
management as per 802.1ag
