Coplu is a self taught artist born in Turkey in 1958

Coplu’s mother was a weaver and taught him about figures, the meanings of patterns and the emotional effectiveness of color

He started college studying mining engineering but political turmoil in the 80's gave him the urge to draw for freedom of expression. He dropped the study of rocks to be an artist

Coplu based in Vancouver- Canada and Antalya-Turkey. He is represented and his work is exhibited at galleries around the world. Ode to Art Gallery-Singapore & Malaysia, Howe Street Gallery-Canada, Gallery 444San Francisco, State of the Art Gallery-Hong Kong. His early career was as a political cartoonist for the Turkish Daily News - He received 25 awards in national and international car- toon competition and he estab-lished a cartoon school
