EVER THOUGHT OF THE

MYSTERY BEHIND IT?????

BYP.SAI KAMAL10BA1A04434th year ECE

HISTORY

First idea in 1977 but not succeeded.

Came up with Retro reflective material.

Presently Duke university uses “microwave beam deflection”.

OPTICAL CAMOUFLAGE????

It is a kind of “active camouflage”

The word Camouflage is originated from Paris ( CAMUFFARE+CAMOUFLET).

Work is done from a special material known as “retro-reflective material”.

RETRO REFLECTIVE MATERIALS

THINGS REQUIRED:

A garment made from “retro-reflective material”

A video camera

A computer

A projector

A special half mirror (combiner)

GARMENT(Cloak)

VIDEO CAMERA

Captured image createsillusion of invisibility

Video from cameramust be in digital format

COMPUTER

All reality systems rely on powerful computers

Calculates the perspective value and proceed image to project

PROJECTOR

It accomplishes task of modified image onto the half mirror.

Opening must be the size of pin hole.

Combiner

Reflects projected image towards cloak and bounce off to users eye

ADVANTAGES

Useful in car-parking for drivers

In aviation, cockpit floors could become 'invisible' to assist pilots during landing.

Military help soldiers to attack without being spotted.

DISADVANTAGES

Observer needs to look through a half-mirror.

Slow Process.

LATEST UPDATE

In 2011, BAE SYSTEMS announced their “adaptive infrared camouflage technology”. It controls the temperature of the vehicle surroundings.

Use of organic LED’s and meta materials.

CONCLUSION

Each technology has its own pace of development.

Even though in movies, invisibility is narrated, but the common man does not know the concept behind it.

Future promises us more.
