What does this tell us?

• being on the Web is a lifelong activity

• that crosses all aspects of our lives

• and that spans all phases of education

• being on the Web is largely a social activity

• where people present different identities at different times

• we no longer live in a world where institutions ‘control’ (in any sense of the word) the online services used by their members (teachers, lecturers, learners and researchers)
