Problem Statement Virtual Business Object WG
• Virtual Business Object • Object that has multiple parts owned by different owners• Single Master Repository solutions do not address all the issues
• Need to identify which properties of an object are the responsibility of which owning or originating systems
• Need to identify what use or operations are allowable on the properties by non-owner systems.
• Need to identify business process or usage patterns that are of interest
• Some aspects may be addressable by the current *_agency attributes
• Some additional attributes or elements may be needed• The WG will also look at something to help control/explain the
relations between different BODs• For example, update the Item Master before processing the
PO or• What do I do if I get an update to the BOM and the Item
does not exist yet

Proposed Scope Virtual Business Object WG
• Focus on identifying example business requirements, processes, and use patterns, identifying Object attributes or elements needed to support the processes.
• Analyze OAGIS Objects existing capability to support identified business requirements and processes
• Identify new attributes or elements needed to support identified business requirements and processes
• Target limited examples of existing OAGIS Objects
• Look at addressing the relationship between BODs
• Does the solution need to be instance specific or some other method not yet defined?

Key Deliverables Summary
• Narrative Problem Statement with example application
• Scenario diagrams with narrative illustrating requirements
• Analysis of existing OAGIS capability• Proposed enhancements - added attributes
and/or elements, (to be backward compatible)• Could possibly be a new object but may be a
new BOD

Scenario Diagrams
• Scenario diagrams with additional narrative will be developed to illustrate the Business Context, and related business processes- May be expressed in either UML or BPMN

Analysis of existing and new attributes and example business processes • Existing and proposed attributes will be
analyzed in the context of the identified business processes.
• Note: Scenario Diagrams and narrative will be developed to illustrate business process use of the existing and new proposed attributes.
