Our Team

Our Task

Complete a thorough analysis of online education options

Evaluate the available online programs and services to determine which, if any, would meet the needs of PSD students

Make a recommendation to the Board by January 2009 

Our Process

Met twice a month for 4 months Examined our current situation Visited Bethel and Kent School Districts Attended the Puget Sound Educational Service

District (PSESD) Online Learning Conference Consulted with the PSESD Met with 3 online vendors

Our Purpose Provide students with another method of

credit retrieval in order to graduate on time Reduce the FTE and therefore financial,

impact of student migration to other programs outside the district

Provide a method for credit enrichment for students who want more from their education, such as early graduation, AP credits, etc.

Online Facts Online schools serve 6,600 of the state's 1.03 million

public school students 2005 legislation allowed state tax dollars to go to

outside companies to run online programs in partnership with local school districts

Current PSD credit retrieval method is NovaNET Singleton enrichment classes like Chinese are

difficult for us to offer with consistency without an online option

PSD is one of the only districts its size without an online option for students

Assuming 32% increase each year Over 4 years Over 550 students grades 7-12 would

leave PSD for online options in 2012 Resulting in over 2.5 million dollars in

lost revenue that year
