Interview Procedure
Interview involves human understanding and communication skills, which we can always improve.
Before the Interview
What to do before an interview? Get to know the interviewee; Think over and do some research on the
topic in order to design interview Qs on the topic (PS: keep backup Qs in case the interview does not flow as expected);
Better give the interviewee your Qs beforehand.
To Start an InterviewWith greetings, introduction and some warm-up que
stions
1. Public Interview: welcome the interviewee & the audience; introduce the interviewee’s background (education, working experience, hobby, & etc.)
e.g. We are very glad to have sb here today… Sb is here to share with us his/her experiences/knowledge on…
2. Private Interview: thank the interviewee, explain again the purposes of the interview
3. Warm-Up Questions: some ‘general’ questions to show how the interviewee is related to the topic.
During an Interview Things to Note:
Attentiveness: listen attentively to the interviewee and take notes while the interviewee is speaking;
Activeness: Keep your mind active to ask follow-up questions for clarification or further discussion;
Flow: skip some questions which the interviewee does not or cannot answer;
Timing: take control of the time spent on each question
Interaction: (public interview) invite audience to ask their questions if there’re any.
To Wrap up an Interview
Show appreciation to the interviewee (and audience for the participation)
e.g. It’s a great pleasure to talk to you. We’ve learned a lot from today’s interview… etc.

Interview Questions
Broader Questions or Touchy Situations People often use the proverb “Birds of a feather floc
k together” to comment on the common characteristics friends share. Do you agree? Why or why not?
Do you think we can make real friends on the Internet without face-to-face interactions?
Are there things you never do to a friend? (For instance, telling white lies, borrowing money, match-making, cheating on an exam for them).
What would you say if your good friend ask you to help with one of the things above?
What if you fall in love with your best friend’s boy/girl friend? Or vice versa?
