Online Assessment

System

IN THIS VIDEO•Teacher account •Student account•Tutoring on ASSISTments•Reporting on ASSISTments

Three ways to use the system

Teachers give students an assessment a few times a year to determine where they are.

Students get sets of problems that they have to work on until they reach a criterion of proficiency. Different students will do different numbers of problems and take different amounts of time.

A quick assessment of a short quick length is given to see where everyone in the class is at a certain time. Teachers get detailed feedback while students are tutored.

Follow the Check-List• I have made a teacher Account • I have made a class in my Account • I have loaded problem sets into my class (either by number or by using the folders) for my

students to work on. • I have printed the “Getting Started Script” to go over with my class. • I have decided what my students will use for a password • I have asked my students to bring a pencil and something to write on to the lab. • I know where I am going to tell my students to write down their new login and password

so they can find it later. • I have loaded extra assignments (either in the same “ASSISTment class” or a different

one) for my students to work on when they finish. Or I have determined some other work for them to do.

• I have made my own student account and tried the assignments so I know what my students will see.

• I have a plan for sharing the data we collect with the students so they can learn what I see in my account.

INCORRECTa2+b2 = c2

122+142 = x2

144 + 196 = x2

340= x2

18.44 = x

CORRECTa2+b2 = c2

122+x2 = 142

144 + x2 = 196x2 = 54x = 7.21
