It replaces the role of an FTP Client in uploading plugins and themes.

Users can browse to a zip file on their hard drive and automatically upload it correctly.

Users can also enter a URL of a zip file (simple, cURL friendly), and that plugin is downloaded and unzipped into the right directory.

OneClick is the first wordpress plugin to ever come with it’s own firefox extension.

With this extension , you don’t even need to go to your dashboard. Install any plugin or theme you like, right from your right click menu on firefox.

This plugin updates itself!! If it detects an update, it’ll download and install it by itself. Neat huh? (any resemblance to apt is unintentional).

Diagnostics to let you know if the folders are configured correctly.

Entering an invalid url, or one that doesn't lead to a zip file can be a little dangerous, but it won’t hurt your data.

Same goes with using the firefox extension.

You have to chmod folders to 077(not a security risk, but not recommended for very large weblogs)

OneClick comes with an added caveat. The “oneclick purgatory” is a small module to delete misbehaving plugins if they mess up wordpress.

Many plugins, if badly done, can completely deny you from seeing the admin panel(try making a syntax error in “hello dolly” and you’ll see what I mean”

The purgatory is independent of wordpress’s php and database, so can safely remove bad themes and plugins.

This also comes in very handy if you want to remove a plugin you tried out and don’t want any more.

It comes with password protection, so someone else can’t delete your files.

A plugin that updates itself with the latest bugfixes

Backup all your themes and plugins as downloadable zip files, for your archiving pleasure.

Combine with database backup and sleep well at night :)

No updates except bugfixes for a while. Expect “Upload and auto-activate”

within a few weeks. Hopeful integration with certain famous

wordpress themes and plugin pages (depends on how much the admins like it)
